What Minimum Stay Should I Set on Airbnb?

Updated September 17, 2026 · 5 min read

A minimum stay is not a permanent property setting. It is a calendar rule. The right rule can protect a valuable weekend or holiday. The wrong rule can make an otherwise bookable night impossible to buy.

Match the rule to the date

Peak weekends may justify longer stays because demand supports them. Quiet weekdays may need more flexibility. Applying one rule to every date ignores that difference.

Watch for blocked gaps

A three-night minimum can leave a two-night opening between reservations. If the rule never adjusts, those nights may remain unavailable even when a guest wants them.

Gap rules can shorten the minimum only where the calendar needs it, without weakening the rest of the month.

Change rules before cutting price

A date may appear overpriced when the real barrier is that the guest cannot select the stay they need. Check restrictions before lowering the rate.

Review as the arrival date approaches

A longer minimum may make sense far in advance and become less useful closer to arrival. Review both the rate and the stay rule together.
